2026–2027 Science Classes:
1–2 Grade: Fables and Fur
Dive into the wonderful world of fables, fairy tales, poetry, and zoology! Students will read classic stories and poems while exploring the lessons they teach. Through read-alouds, discussions, and role-playing activities, students will compare and contrast storybook animal characters with real animals in nature. While strengthening early literacy skills and curiosity, students will begin developing the ability to observe and understand the natural world around them.
3–4 Grade: Fizz, Pop, Think!
Get ready to mix, experiment, and explore! From fizzy reactions and colorful mixtures to the fascinating states of matter, students will discover how everyday materials can change, react, and surprise us. But we won’t just observe—we will think! Students will practice critical thinking skills by asking questions, making predictions, testing ideas, and exploring the results of their experiments.
5–6 Grade: Elemental Thinking
Students will explore the building blocks of matter while sharpening their scientific thinking skills. This hands-on pre-chemistry class introduces key concepts through engaging experiments and real-world problem solving. Students will learn to think like scientists by asking purposeful questions, distinguishing between observation and inference, identifying patterns, evaluating evidence, and forming logical conclusions.
7-9th Grade: Chemistry and Reasoning
This course challenges students to go beyond memorizing facts and develop strong scientific reasoning skills. Students will explore core chemistry concepts including atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, chemical reactions, and acids and bases. Through experiments, analysis, and discussion, students will learn to apply logic and evidence to understand how the chemical world works. We will also follow a charter school–aligned 8th grade syllabus and provide science samples for the students to hand into the charter throughout the year.
Past Classes:
2025-2026
Grades 1 & 2
Critters, Clouds and Crystals! $300 per semester
That’s right! Our young scientists will enjoy learning about animals, the “sky” and digging for rocks and minerals. If you’ve ever wondered about the world around you, well here we go. We will learn about many different birds, trees, and rocks AND we will look up to see what the stars and the sky can tell us too. We will be keeping a nature journal as well as exploring how we connect with nature—spending some time outdoors (exploring trees, listening to birds sing and hunting for and examining rocks!) Come on along and be a part of this hands-on adventure!
Grades 3 & 4
Critters, Clouds and Crystals! $300 per semester
Nature is full of amazing things to discover! In this class, we’ll learn how to identify birds, trees, rocks, and stars, and we’ll explore how landscapes are shaped over time. We will be observing, evaluating and learning about just how we interact with the natural world every day. Whether you love collecting interesting rocks, spotting birds, or just being outside, this class will help you see nature in a whole new way. Come to class prepared to spend some time outside as we explore nature and journal our findings!
Grades 5 & 6
Discoveries From the Ground to the Sky! $320 per semester
Are you curious about the names of the birds in your backyard or the types of rocks beneath your feet? We will learn to identify birds, trees, rocks, and stars while also learning about the forces that shape the land. This class is so much more than just memorizing facts! We’ll dive into the ways we experience and interact with nature. Whether you’re already a nature lover of the great outdoors or if you want to start noticing more about the world around you, this class will give you the tools to see nature differently. Oh, and come to class prepared to spend some time outside!
Grades 7 & Up
Earth Science-A Hands on Approach $300 per semester
Nature is more than something we observe—it’s something we’re part of. We will follow a recommended state outline for earth sciences this year as we explore land formations, natural resources, the night sky, and how the planets interact. As well as learning how to identify trees, birds, native plants, and weather patterns. We will have some hands-on activities and some super fun group projects. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast or just curious about the world around you, this class will help you see nature with fresh eyes. Come to class prepared to spend some time outside!
